The Happy Dog Hotel’s Stacy Fotos Receives Empowering Women in Leadership Award

Some moments in life catch you completely off guard — and those are often the most meaningful ones.

On June 22, 2026, at the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club, I was presented with the Stacy Fotos Empowering Women in Leadership Award Appreciation Day proclamation by Bridget Thorne, Fulton County Commissioner, on behalf of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

I honestly didn’t see it coming. And somehow, that made it mean everything.

What the Award Means

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners formally recognized me for demonstrated commitment to leadership, entrepreneurship, and community service in Fulton County, Georgia. The proclamation honors what they described as exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication — both to our customers and to the broader Johns Creek community.

Reading those words, I had to take a breath.

Not because I felt I deserved it, but because it reminded me how far this journey has come — and how many people have been part of it.

How I Felt in That Moment

Receiving this from Commissioner Bridget Thorne was truly unexpected, which made it even more meaningful. It’s an incredible honor to know that others see me as someone who inspires and empowers through leadership.

At the same time, I feel deeply humbled — because I know this recognition reflects not only my own efforts, but also the support, encouragement, and opportunities I’ve been fortunate to receive along the way.

I have been incredibly fortunate to receive so much support from the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce and to build meaningful friendships with people who have encouraged, challenged, and believed in me. Their impact on my journey has been lasting and real, and I’m grateful every day to be part of such a strong and caring community.

Leadership Is Never a Solo Journey

Running The Happy Dog Hotel has taught me that true leadership isn’t about titles or recognition — it’s about showing up consistently for the people and animals who depend on you.

It’s about the dog who comes in nervous and leaves wagging. The owner who trusts you with their family member. The team member who grows into a confident caregiver. The fellow business owner who reaches out because they saw what you built and felt inspired.

This award reminds me that leadership is about serving others, lifting people up, and creating opportunities for those around us.

I’m honored by this recognition and grateful to everyone who has been a part of my journey.
